Many centuries have passed since the first of the human tribes descended from the cold northern reaches into the land of Adewald. In earlier times, they were joined by many neighboring people seeking asylum from elven oppression. A resilient people, much of mankind’s early years were marked by both struggle and hardship.Their primitive ways and language were held in poor regard by their advanced high elven neighbors, the latter seeing them as little more than a lesser race worthy of servitude rather than good will or friendship.

Though it is said that contact with the sylvan wood elves of Adewald were more receptive to the coming of humans, they too were quick to retreat deeper into the woods without any real offer of aid or kinship. It would not be until crossing paths with the dwarves that this wayward race of men would find true companionship. Like them, the dwarves were also viewed as lesser beings in the eyes of most elves - a fact the two peoples became fast friends over. The humans quickly found more common ground with their new dwarven allies, and soon began to flourish and advance under their tutelage. Though the pool of their years was limited, their capacity for innovation and creativity was quickly noted and encouraged by their industrious allies.

Today, the humans of Adewald have come a long way since their first venture. Now more than ever, they are a race defined by their ability to overcome adversity and hardship. Today, they number the largest population of Adewald, have become a diverse group of their own and a force to be reckoned both politically and militarily. In some respects they have superseded even the elves and dwarves, having used the knowledge that was taught to them of magic and technology. Through perseverance, adaptability, and an unbreakable spirit, they now rank among the rulers of Adewald.
