Soulseeker

Soulseeker_Front_Page.jpg

In Halenoth, to be a soulseeker is to know a life of hardship and danger. This highly potent form of magic is often misunderstood and despised, as are those who are called to it. It is difficult to say whether a soulseeker is born or made, for there are those who can hear the echoes of the dead since their days as children. Then there are some who are brought to the brink of death, but in the moment of their passing they awaken- and so do their powers. A Soulseeker born a human is feared above all others, their hatred for magic and those who wield it often blinding them from the truth. Children and adults are ripped from their families to be sent away and subjected to torturous training while forced into a life of servitude.

They are the thread that connects the waking world and the spirit world, for they walk in both. Their eyes see into the veil, allowing them to glimpse incorporeal beings and souls that wander the earth. Yet without control or training, they are not only a danger to others but to themselves, for to see and hear the dead is but a breath away from madness. Should a soulseeker succumb to possession by a malefic soul, there is no telling of the havoc and destruction they may unleash.

The Soulseeker must decide. Have they been gifted...or cursed?

Powers and Attunement

To the uneducated or ignorant, Soulseekers necromancers with a penchant for devouring souls. Some believe them to be just mages playing at dark magic.

They could not be farther from the truth.

A Soulseeker is medium with a deep connection to the spirit realm, able to sense its chaotic energies and harness them for their own means. They are the bridge that connects two worlds, walking the roads along both. Their spirit attunement grants them powers beyond mortal imagining and comprehension. Because of their ability to at times see and hear echoes of the dead, they are often misunderstood and regarded with hate and loathing. It is this lack of understanding which makes a soulseeker terrifying, in many ways the extent of their psychic powers and their communion with the spirits still a mystery.
